HOW CAN I HELP MY CHILD GET THEIR FIRST JOB?
Going for that first job can be a great experience or a scary experience depending on how it's handled. Some good steps for managing this well are:
Help your teenager put together their first resume (see our free articles)
Help them pick out where they would like to work and encourage them to call in and leave their resume (if they don't have online applications)
Help them to phone and apply for advertised jobs
Help them with interview skills and building some practice answers for likely queations
Enrol them in a study program that will help them build skills and confidence for their first job
Get help if you don't believe you have the right skills for these tasks.
