FAQs - 2 Qs on Qualifications and starting work.
Question 1. I'm trying to get my first job and am thinking of studying a Diploma of Business.
Answer. If you haven't had a job before and want work quickly, one of the Certificate 11s and 111s give you a lot of help with getting a good grounding in work skills. There is an assumption that these are already gained if you are studying at a higher level.
Question 2. I really need work and can't afford to be tied up studying full time. What can I do?
Answer. Firstly get a resume or re-do your current one (look at our free articles). Next, decide on the type of work you're going to be best at and put this and your reasons in your cover letter. Look critically at your experience and if there's a gap between what you have and what your likely employer will want then sign up for that unit. One units of study can make a great difference to winning that job. For example if you are good at tasks but haven't had much experience coaching others then just do a "Coaching others" unit. Maxwells Services offers flexible training in "gap" units as well as qualifications. Out team is happy to advise you on the next step.
